For The Press - A Project Summary

Sep

Apparently, Ubi is running a contest for the fans in preparation for the Uru launch. I figured that I’d take a stab at it:

Joy did not have a good family life.

It was a constant disruption in her days—come home from school, parents fighting—and the next thing I knew, she’d be on her way over here.

It was 1994, Kurt Cobain had just departed from this Earth, and the group of grungy underachievers that I seemed to (for some reason) associate myself with, were searching for something new to believe in. And we found it, wrapped tightly in cellophane—within a teal and cyan box.

It was like stepping into a dream at any time, exploring through a world which you could only imagine, yet never imagine at all. The essence; the overall ambience of the environment only improved upon by the intricate detail and passion that its developers had obviously dedicated so willingly.

The lore, the background—the constant encouragement to become like a toddler again and ask—Why? The beautiful serenity of it all. And then the novels, years later, that filled in some blanks, while opening more questions.

I remember Joy clearly, in her zone of needing to escape, sitting next to me as the copiloting explorer, admitting:

“My God, this is better than vodka.”

I guess we’ll see what happens.
