For The Press - A Project Summary

Sep
23

It’s been a couple weeks since I’ve written about the project. A lot has been going on.

The last thing I wrote about was asking Tony if he would be interested in meeting Adrian and Patrick. He was and so I let them know. Patrick called him and set-up a meeting for a week later (earlier this week).

We met at Fiddler’s Hearth for a few brews. There was some introductory chit-chat and then we had Tony peruse the NDA. After that we dropped the “M” word on him. I’m pretty sure his reaction was about the same as mine… No. Freaking. Way! (Both in the “Yeah right!” and “Where do I sign?” context of the phrase, of course.)

Anyway, Adrian discussed what we were looking for as Patrick flipped through his work. We all agreed that his work was pretty solid but in a very specific style. We were going to need a good variety of sketches for different people in different positions. Tony didn’t seem to worried about that. What we were all a little concerned about was his schedule. He was upfront about it. We thought we would go through one session and see how it goes. So we set-up a meeting for today.

We met at Adrian’s place. Tony brought some of his own pencils and such even though Adrian bought some. I’m sure it’ll come in handy later.

He had him sketch some shots of Veovis and A’gaeris. Over all, I thought it went well.

When he left we chatted about it and decided that even though the quality was there, we don’t think the schedule will work. It takes time to do this at the level we’re looking to achieve and once a week won’t cut it. I have no doubt that Tony could knock this out of the park with time, but that isn’t a luxury we can afford right now. We have a few hundred of these things we need to get done and once a week will put us a little behind schedule. (Wow, do I feel like the boss-supervisor-type figure!)

Patrick said that he would call him to let him know. He doesn’t want things to get too uncomfortable between me and Tony. I’m sure it wouldn’t but it’s nice to not have to worry about it.

And so, the search continues…

Oops, nevermind. Guess it didn’t work out.
