For The Press - A Project Summary

Nov
09

When I originally made the commitment to journal throughout this entire process, I never imagined that there would be days where I just wouldn’t have a chance to sit down and write - and I’ve been facing that for the last several days. It’s been exhausting.

As it turns out, November has been the most productive for the boarding process and we’re only a week in. Some very ferocious sequences have been nailed in a matter of days - and this is a very, very good thing because one sequence (when the Maintainers come to confiscate the baby Gehn) was just in time as we needed it for assembly. Phil’s been on fire - he hammered out 14 boards the other night. He’s even redone some scenes a couple of times without any complaint.

Everyone’s getting pretty excited. About half of the animatic is put together now and being that far into the process is relieving. We had gotten into the habit of boarding almost every other night and then working on assembly on our off nights - but as we’re moving pretty far and fast, Adrian and I have started getting the group together earlier so we can work in the newest boards later in the evening.

So much is changing on a daily basis with the assembly that we’re previewing the animatic every time we get together to discuss what works and what doesn’t. I think this has been one of the fuels to Phil’s fire - being able to see what his boards are turning into pretty much right away, and being able to play a part in massaging this thing into reality.

Moral is up, and that’s a good thing because I was rather devastated from Chris and Micam leaving. People at MAF have been asking us if our big, secret project has garnered any good news and we’re finally able to sit tall and smile. We’re thinking we’ll have a final-draft of the animatic done in the first or second week of December - so, there’s a shining light at the end of this tunnel - finally.

Gehn confiscated? And Veovis captured by his friend Suahrnir? Don’t think that happened in the book, did it? Interesting! :)

Wow.. just wow… Now I don’t know what the movie will be… I like that!!

O-o

Interesting… to say the least.

So many awesome updates, so many. Very interesting, yes, very different. I’m not sure if I like it yet, but as I said before, the Book of D’ni was not all that well written despite having many good ideas… let’s see if you’ve taken the story and spun it into gold…

“As Are Their Linking Books” - Picture 5
1) Do people smoke in the ‘Myst’ ages?
2) Patrick, I didn’t notice, before now, how you are trying to fight that smile as you’re trying to grab the ‘baby’ from behind me. Creepy!

They Suspect The Surface Dweller
I look like I’m in prison. Oh, wait…

I especially like the picture of Ryan as Veovis driving in imaginary car. :)

By the way Ryuu, it’s Book of Ti’ana they’re doing, not D’ni.

Some strange book-to-movie liberties going on in a couple of places, but I’m sure they’re all for the best!

Lol, Gehn was always bald.

@Ryan: Gehn smokes a poison-frog-oil pipe…
