For The Press - A Project Summary

Nov
14

Phil completed his best board tonight. It was of our most favorite, and primary character of the film: Veovis.

Phil got a cookie.

Adrian’s been cradling the charcoal drawing in his arms as if it was a newborn child. I think we’ll frame it for posterity and hang it above John Lennon. Maybe. John Lennon may not deserve to be amongst such greatness.

In the meantime, we’ve been hanging Ryan off a ledge of Adrian’s apartment building to get the right perspective for Veovis being saved during the carriage accident at the Capping Ceremony. Tonight’s been slow but fun and worth it. I’m looking forward to more assembly work later.

Note from Patrick: download Veovis here.

O-o

That’s…. incredible. It makes me want to drop to my knees.

Oh, and don’t forget to pull Ryan back up.

*screams*

Wait… nevermind XD

You can feel the image. Feels like a dark, brooding, troubled person

“I will have revenge!” *in a creepy half-whisper*

That’s what it says to me.

Wait for it… wait for it…

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE~

I notice that the carriage accident is also different! If I recall, in the book he’s about to be crushed under it; here we have a GIANT CHASM OF DOOM.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE~ *does a dance*

Ahh ahh ahh yes, yes, I wish I could edit comments because more thoughts ! yes.

I love the intense look he has in the last picture. Odd that he has short, pale hair; but that’s probably just me and the fact that I’ve been influenced by the wonderful fanart designs, particularly Artovelli. I’m not sure why so many fanartists give him black hair when it’s quite clear that D’ni have pale hair, and his hair color (as far as I recall) is never specifically mentioned.

… and I think the reason WHY I remember that is becuase in my own efforts to make myself do fanart (always failing due to my own high standards/internet addiction) were frustrated by the lack of description about Veovis other than that he’s tall and kind of intense. I even think that the book contradicts itself, at one point saying that he’s very severe and another saying that he’s princely (which make different images in my head)
but hey, he can be both.

… nice cheekbones. *laughs*

I like this. I like the look he has in his eyes in the last picture and the look he has in the first as well, that desperation and fear (even if it’s just sketches)

Man, I could go on and on…

Aww. Ryuu’s fangirling. :)

In the book the carriage was dangerously close to falling down the shaft with Veovis in it.

Ahh, thank you, Herohtar. It’s been… a few months now. *laughs*

… yes I am. SEE WHAT YOU’VE DONE TO ME.

Hey, which is more exciting?

Being crushed, or chasm of death.

Look at LOTR. :D

Yeahhh, Chasm of Death. :3 Gotta agree there.

Wow, that pic of Veovis is excellent. Just as I had pictured him, with angular features and eyebrows, but perhaps with a longer face…
Anyway, Great Job!

huh… when i saw the anamatic, i thought those pictures were of Atrus’ exploration into those caves, when he was finding all of those crystals? i thought maybe you changed it to where he was like hanging off the edge of a fissure. Or mabye he was falling and he was using his knife to get a grab into the wall, kind of like a pirate would his sail in pirate movies. That would be cool!
