We went out with Ryan last night to The O.B. to meet his buddy Cole, who works for the broadcast department at [a major university]. He was cool enough to offer us some equipment for the presentation. Looks like we’re going to have access to lights, good sound equipment (thank God) and a camera with a high enough resolution to pull off our keys (maybe).
In our research we’ve learned that pulling solid greenscreen keys is next to impossible on miniDV. We’d pretty much known that from our own experience, but we were hoping that we were just somehow missing something. Doesn’t look like it. What we do know is that if you’re going to try to pull off greenscreen in miniDV, the Xl1 is one of the better options.
We’ll be driving down next week to pick up the equipment. Cole’s taking a pretty big risk. He will be checking it out under his name. If anything happens to it, it’s his responsibility. He’s also breaking a number of rules in lending it to us to begin with. We’ve been instructed to keep it on the DL.
It’s a relief to know that we’re set now. Cole is awesome. Now we need to get the script for the presentation finalized.
