PRESENTATION DAY ONE

I’m unhappy right now.

The joyous events of my day:

- Got up ridiculously early to drive three and a half hours downstate with Ryan to pick up equipment to shoot.

- Drove three and a half hours back.

- Got into fight with [my girlfriend] because she’s feeling slighted by the fact that I’m not around during one of the rare free moments she has while in grad school. She yelled and made threats on our relationship, dismissed the project as a waste time and made threats on our relationship, suggested that I needed to grow up and find something real to do for a living and made threats on our relationship. I yelled back. It was all downhill from there.

- After two hours of that s#@$ I left [my girlfriend’s] apartment and headed to the studio to set up the lights - ALONE! - so we could test lighting tonight and be ready to shoot as early as possible tomorrow.

- Waited for Patrick and Ryan to finish their dinners and show up at the studio.

- Spent hours testing lighting set-ups against the greenscreen. I hate greenscreen. Trying to find just the right amount of backlight to compensate for bleed is my new most-hated activity. Too much and the highlights blow out, too little and the green shows up on our shoulders. It would help if we had a little more controllability on our lights. Maybe a few more gel and screen options? That’d be nice. Grr… All of this while dealing with a slew of text messages from [my girlfriend] about how much of an a@!hole I am. Double grr… She’s absolutely out of control.

- Finished up at the studio and headed over to Patrick’s to have a look at what we shot. Played around with keys to see what was possible.

- Left Patrick’s around 2:00 am and agreed to meet at the studio at 10:00 am tomorrow. Patrick continued working on keys.

- Started writing this entry. [my girlfriend] is texting me demanding I show up at her place so we can “talk about things”. It absolutely has to be talked about tonight apparently. Doesn’t matter how tired I am. This is going to be amazing!
