My new drug of choice? The various Myst forums. It’s a crippling addiction. I find myself unable to perform any of my daily responsibilities as I watch the discussion unfold regarding the website.

In this very long process, we have often found ourselves consumed by deafening silence as we awaited reaction or reply on one thing or another. Sometimes as many as four months would go by before we’d see a result from our efforts. The forums and the site have now offered us a new experience - instant gratification.

When I was an actor, there was something about being in front of a live audience that there was simply no substitute for. Being able to draw off of that energy. That’s the one major downside to film acting. You don’t have that instant give and take with your audience. Of course, you still have that relationship with your fellow actors, but that buzz you get from the audience just isn’t there. There’s an analogue here.

Patience is a virtue, but it sure is nice to not have to be so virtuous for a while.
