For The Press - A Project Summary

Feb
16

Well, it looks like we’ve finally been outed. Just got back after a few hours out to get some fresh air and do a bit of “celebration for one” after spending the last three days in a mad dash to get the final pieces of the site together. Strike “celebration for one” and call it “decompression.” Before I left, I saw that a chap named Justintime9 had discovered the updated site a mere 10 minutes after it all had been posted, so I figured that there was some time before someone would actually get through the door of the flash puzzle.

Spoke to Adrian numerous times while I was out. I was driving from here to there and he was on a stretch somewhere around Lexington. We talked about our next steps, things we wanted to say, and how we were going to unveil specific pieces of Passage to the masses. We also talked about a couple of chicks he met at the bar last night (his last night) in Charleston. I need to get out of here too sometime soon… too cold.

I was glad to see that thus far it doesn’t seem the flash anim has crashed anyone’s machine. Serious work went into that one between Flash, After Effects and the whole shebang. I wasn’t sure that a 24 fps flash app with an external call to video would run smoothly on anyone’s system regardless of all my testing — but it looks like the gods are still smiling on me. Now, we just need to figure out when we’re going to take down the splash animation and open the site up without the access restriction. Most likely after someone figures out the actual logic behind the sequence of numbers and how it could have all been worked out without trial and error. Consider that a challenge, I guess. I need hungry.

I’ve mastered the challenge: The numbers of the image sequence tell us in which place the numbers should go. 1 is in 15th place, 2 in 3rd, 3 in 13th…

We also talked about a couple of chicks he met at the bar last night (his last night) in Charleston.”

They were really cool. I was having a lonely night and was pretty bummed about leaving the warmth. I was at the bar and they struck up a conversation with me. Beth and Erika. They ended up inviting me back to Erika’s place for a few more beers after the bar closed. It was a good time. I can now say I have friends in Charleston.

Telling detail about Beth: She insists that she isn’t spoiled because her “Lexus SUV doesn’t even have a CD player”.
