For The Press - A Project Summary

Feb
19

Since the launch of the original teaser site, we’ve had the pleasure of watching the fan community discuss and debate the nature of the whole project and work together to solve our puzzles.  It has been a very exciting experience for us.  We’ve had the opportunity to sort  of get to know a lot of you indirectly through your posts.  As we have been following along there have been some very touching and much-needed posts of affirmation addressed to us.  It’s a daunting thing to put your work out there and for it to be left open to scrutiny.   These words helped tremendously to alleviate some of the anxiety that comes with that kind of exposure.

We wanted to take a moment to give special mention to Deius.  He has been on the ball with the solving of the cyphers and has also been a remarkably considerate and positive force throughout.  Deius, your concern for the others on the boards and not wanting to spoil anyone’s fun was admirable.  We all appreciate it.

Also, Buzzle1 should be thanked for taking the time to solve the clock position/D’ni number puzzle.  We were disappointed that it was brute forced and we’re glad you figured it out.

These special mentions are in no way intended to take away from anyone else.  We have been honored by the contributions of everyone.  Thank you to all of you for your continued support and enthusiasm.

This was posted on the 19th? How did I miss this?
I feel weird being singled out, but thank-you for the kind words. As you mentioned, Buzzle1 was really on the ball with the clock puzzle…having that revelation of the puzzle’s true nature after we’d already brute-forced the solution made that puzzle twice the fun.

I’ve always hoped in the back of my mind that a Myst movie would become reality, and (as you may have noticed) I have an obsession with puzzles - especially well-executed ones. To have the two rolled up into one project has been a source of true pleasure for me. If we can do our part as fans to give your efforts validation and affirmation, then that’s a bonus. Once again, thank-you, thank-you, thank-you both.

This post was written on the 19th, but it didn’t go up until tonight. I had a feeling you’d be hesitant to accept your honors, Deius. Just another testament to your character :)

I read about the clock puzzle on Wiki. Kudos to Buzzle1!

Hi - I’m Buzzle1. Thanks very much for the compliments. The puzzles were tremendously fun to solve. And I agree, Deius was the master of solv-a-tion, and so supportive of everyone else. Thanks Deius, thanks Mysteriacs!

I almost forgot :) Wanted to give credit to some others - Loshem, Kohdi, Philipp, Gorobay, Herotar, Floydman, Cal, Hawkin - and I know I’m missing some others.:)

Don’t forget Nadnerb.

Who came up with the clock puzzle? It was ingenius. The others too - the coding and the countries - who thought all that up? They were all so much fun. It must have been a ton of work. Thanks again. :)
