For The Press - A Project Summary

Feb
26

Another happy birthday … to Joy. She’s been there since the beginning, if even from afar. I know that at the drop of a hat, she’d again be my biggest fan, my most convincing source of encouragement and my flexing right arm. She was the source of all of this, you know. And now, she has come here with us. She’s very close. Listening to every word that we say. She was the subject who inspired the essay. She was with me when we hid from the boys in the bookstore. The essay which inspired the win. She was with me when we took the book with the Auryn symbol on the cover, in which she’s reading her own story right now. The win which inspired the late-night Christmas Myst fest over ham-sandwiches and the 10th Anniversary Myst DVD bundle between Adrian and myself. I last saw her on New Years day 2008. She and the not-husband drove into town to party hardcore and then came to drink coffee in my living room. I miss her. We’ve lost touch so much. I wonder if I’m still her hug-a-bug-bear.

And she never liked the name Moonchild, either. Run Atreyu, run!

Happy Birthday, Joy. :)

WE LOVE YOU, JOY. Happy Birthday!

Just don’t try to kiss her, Adrian. She’ll laugh hysterically until she wets. *the stars are beautiful tonight, aren’t they?*

Oh my god Neverending Story reference. that is probably my favourite book of all time. ever. Happy Birthday, Joy. :D

(Give her that book. I can think of no better gift. Unless she already has one.)

Happy, happy birthday Joy! :D

Love the Neverending Story references. It’s my favorite book too (just a notch above the Myst books!). Incidentally, as a kid I couldn’t make out what Bastian shouted… my childish mind heard “Rock-Bite-Idaho!”

No joke.

Heh. Rock-Bite-Idaho. I always heard mouchdlfisjsfdhejw.. or something. I finally read the book in ‘95 and found the name in that. That’s when Joy and I agreed on not liking it. I’ve been digging. Love your drawings.

My goodness! This is quite an ode to Joy, surpassed only by Beethoven. Did the two of you ever date, Patrick? Or is that journal entry coming?
