Not one that works in one of those assembly line "get 'em in, get 'em out" dental centers ... but one that has his own private practice. One who's living comes from word of mouth ... not advertising. One who has his/her name on the door ... AND THAT'S IT. Because what you had to go through was attrocious, and seems to me to be epidemic to the whole "dental/orthodontic center" experience. Trust me ... I went to one of those dental centers once, and ONLY once ... and for the very same reason you had so much trouble. They shuffled Mom and I in, took some x-rays, then sat me in a chair. Then the "dentist" came up and, in a very uninterested tone, tells me I have this this and this wrong, I need this this and this done to fix it, and it will cost this much. Thank you, have a nice day, and that's that. We asked a few questions and he seemd almost offended ... like how dare we question his opinion. A very unpleasant experience indeed, and the main reason why I REFUSED to have my braces done at one of those big orthodontic centers and instead opted for ... wait for it ... and orthodontist in private practice. I mean, you're making the money now to pay for it ... and you're obviously willing to spend it (though I don't think they cost THAT much more) ... why not go somewhere where you're comfortable, the people are nice, and they are geniunely concerned about your dental problems because they DO realize how much money you're putting into their establishment. And, suddenly the theme song to "Cheers" starts playing in my head. :) Sometimes you wanna go ... where everybody knows your name. When I had some dental work, it only part-way worked, but the dentist was really nice about it, and said he had a root canal with no numbing at all! Yikes! It makes them out to be more human, more regular folk like us as opposed to mysterious scriptwriters in the sky about whom we know nothing. It's nice to have that. Compare it to your average flick where you know absolutely nothing about either the scriptwriters OR their process. They can't give away too much about the script (And besides, where's the fun in THAT) but they can at least share what their lives are like. And those insights can be more valuable into what is going on with the film than you realize. I, for one, welcome this.
