For The Press - A Project Summary

Mar
09

I have a confession to make: I spent most of the yesterday afternoon and this afternoon in URU.

Now, I’m not unfamiliar with URU. Both Adrian and I completed URU Prime, To D’ni, and The Path of the Shell — and I was part of both the Ubi and Gametap betas. But this last year, due to time constraints (work, family, project) it’s been difficult to get in and check things out, especially during episodic events. So, I’ve not seen the newer ages.

So, I’ve started from scratch again. Got through the URU Prime line, Teledahn, Kadish, and Gahreesen, the gardens and the raining Cleft already. Now, I’m just trying to figure out how to continue the process to upgrade my Ki and get into the other ages. Does TGZ still exist? Do you have to go through the marker missions? Will I never get all of the sparklies ’cause some are gone now?

If you’re not familiar with URU, then you’ll most likely have no idea what I’m talking about.

Don’t feel guilty about it. I think all of us would be glad you are immersed in D’ni and the feel you get their. I hope we will get to experience the cavern in a fuller way in the movie.

*wonders if people are spreading KIs in the hood chat right now*

I wish I spent more time learning things I could have some use for in the future instead of specializing myself on Uru…
I think it’s time for another trip to the library soon. :)

I was, with linkerjpatrick above, part of the pre-alpha test at Cyan on their “Choru” server… and it’s been more than a year since I have seen the inside of Uru. It’s sadly been a really hard time for me in the last two years, with minimal employment, the loss of jobs and money, and finally my home, I have not had the capability of running Uru for a very long time. I’ve been hoping to get back on my feet with a new PC and some High Speed internet, but its just not happening, and now I will miss the end of Uru.

Believe me, I know only too well how real life can keep you out of D’ni. Now I’ll just have to hope that my life will stabilize in time to see what you guys make.

It was a pleasure meeting you (virtually) in person yesterday. I can’t wait to get the answers to my questions, and my offer still stands. :)

The Great Zero is up and running, there are still marker missions to be run, and all of the sparklies have been turned on. The only problem is that the spark in Minkata is bugged and can’t be picked up. Don’t forget to attend the St. Pat’s parade on Friday!

The marker missions are still available, and there are explorer created missions as well. Can’t jump on the tent in the plaza anymore, but there is some “skydiving” that a few players worked out to walk above the tent and scale the building behind it, as well as walking above the wooden bridge. Minkata is a fun sorta puzzle age, and you get those stone circles and wedges on Relto when you complete an age. The garden ages take several players doing a sequence of events to open the Bahro cave. Minkata has its own beauty and wonderful music. The pellets in Ercana are used to lighten the cavern lake a bit, and Ahnonay has been altered so that you need a buddy to finish. It’s still rewarding. What are your explorer names?

It was a pleasure to meet you, Patrick. Thanks for taking the time to talk to us. I hope you had fun in Uru. You still have Minkata to look forward to. Enjoy!

Minkata is a complete pain in the arse. If you go there, make sure you can drop markers, as it will help your navigation IMMENSELY.

Other than that, you reach other areas by going to the Nexus. Head to Watcher’s Sanctuary and Er’cana and Ahnonay will be there. You still need a friend though, in order to complete both of them.

Also, look around Ae’gura a bit. In the museums, you’ll find the Pod Age as well as Jalak and Minkata.

Enjoy!
