Myst Movie 1.5

Well, some major upgrades hit the site tonight just in time for fun stuff in the coming weeks. Needed to clean a few things up and prep the site with place holders for future content. I’m happy with the changes. Allow me to rant about them a bit:

1. After four hours of WordPress-hacking fun, I finally got a What’s New page up and running. This is for all of you who don’t follow the RSS release feed and asked for an alternative (including my sister, my girlfriend, Tira in Texas, my baby momma, random people on the street, baby seals, and the fans) to see what’s been recently posted (but pre-dated) without having to go through the archives.

(Note: I hate the rewrite system in WordPress. It’s fugly. It took a long time to track down why one single variable wasn’t being passed. And this, all on the heels of 2.5 being released — it’ll be a while before I upgrade because this installation is complete customized.)

2. I’ve cleaned up the left side navigation just to give some attention to important bullets. You’ll see the new ‘What’s New’ link up there (see above) as well as some new links.

3. It’ll now be easy to find media posted through the site. This includes downloads, images, videos. Check the links on the left.

4. Some additional information has been pushed down the page to a new resource area. This section will continue to expand as we add new press references, Myst-related resources, etc.

Carla just got off her shift and we’re both hungry. Time to eat Papa John’s. (I had pizza here waiting for her — aren’t I the best?!)

  • I’m liking the additions very much, nice work!

  • More info to get my teeth into, cheers. I am definately getting drawn in and I am along for the ride, however long it takes.
Pizza how about cooking a proper meal for Carla?
    Take care

  • Good job in keeping the site well organized.
Still, I think that the Media section should be more distinct, as in immediately noticeable. Especially when the video material is released.

  • Thanks! we really needed some of this stuff (if not all) =D

I hope the pizza was tasty, and I hope more stuff coming soon.
    Keep the good work!

    That’s great!

Though…i’ve seen the movie is based on a book…that’s can be a bit of a problem (for me,of course! ;) )

You see,I like it when there is nothing which go over the other thing. If you want to read the book of ti’ana, you won’t have to choose if you want to see the movie or read the book.

  • Based on the Book of – WHAT!? O.O

    Need info shot! :)

  • I’m all giddy with anticipation! :D

  • I’m getting an error not found on with the downloads clicky. :( Purhaps because there is nothing to download yet? No video teasers ready? No little snippets of dialog or glances at the script? Not even one…little…word??

  • Hmm, think you guys could put the link to the puzzle under Media (meaning the place where you can still access the flash thingy)? I think that counts, particularly since it REALLY got me hyped for all this :D

  • Suggestion: create a page on this site with your own summary of “What is Myst”. Linking to Wikipedia doesn’t really feel professional in my opinion… though I think that the “History of the Site”, since that was more of a fan community thing.

  • *wonders why her name was italicized, particularly since she never said anything about a what’s new page*

And why you’re feeding Carla garbage from Papa John’s, I will never know. That you want praise for it is even more baffling.

<— used to work for Papa John’s and has told him all her horror stories

  • I’m assuming downloads will eventually have the Trailer you showed Cyan? :)

  • Needed to clean a few things up and prep the site with place holders for future content.

  • WooHoo! Future content!

wonders why her name was italicized – Didn’t you hear? Along with the Myst movie, P & A are working on a small featurette entitled, Tira in Texas. Pixar’s doing the animation. You get to star with Quick Draw McGraw!
