For The Press - A Project Summary

Mar
31

Well, hosting is getting expensive (our traffic is getting pretty massive) … so after much deliberation, I decided to try an experiment and see what all the hoopla is about…

Yes, Google has pwned me. Don’t worry, this is most likely just temporary. We’re not going to be turning this site into a money machine any time soon.

This is just a test.

Nice writing style. Looking forward to reading more from you.

You know something? I wouldn’t have even noticed the ads if I hadn’t read this, since one must scroll down to see them. They really aren’t disruptive to the site in that location.

Firefox add-ons block the ads for me. I don’t know if that keeps money from you or not…

DPWR uses ixwebhosting.com
they’re GREAT. We’ve had wonderful experiences with them. They take care of things before we even have to mention them most of the time, and their packages are quite inexpensive, and are a great deal. We’re using the Business Plus, which is 7.95 USD a month. You can check out all the packages here: http://www.ixwebhosting.com/index.php/v2/pages.planBusinessPlus
Hope that helps.

Ads? What ads? I’d have to complain, but I don’t see them. *feeds Adblock Plus a cookie*

DPWR uses ixwebhosting.com Thanks for the tip. I’m pretty stingy about hosts. We’re about to have a lot of H.264 video streaming here so the cheaper packages are a no-go.

Ohhh!! I like the sound of that!

I didn’t notice the ads until Deius pointed them out.

At least it’s Myst ads. That’s not so bad. At least they don’t talk!!

/me feeds Adblock Plus a cookie as well.

If you hadn’t mentioned it, I never would have known the difference.

Also, Herohtar, maybe we should cut back on the cookies, or Adblock is going to get pudgy. Then it will get lazy and stop catching all the ads.

Oh, video streaming? Sounds very promising. (Is there any hints about what the to-be content includes, or is hevtee ril the best response we can get?)

Here’s a big hint that they gave in The State of Things:
.
“Everything will start to get really interesting around the beginning of April as we launch more PR in tandem with the release of Myst DS in North America, while simultaneously unveiling the animatic that originally got Cyan’s attention.”

Hey, if it gets the movie on the screen I don’t care. And as KatrAnna said, “At least they don’t talk!!

/me wants animatic! Give us the precious, now!

I’d be careful with selling your soul to Google. ;)
I’ve heard some bad things about Google AdSense, where people have complained of being cheated out of their money, and not paid at all because of Google’s tricky practices.

/me turns off his adblockers for a moment to click on an ad and support the site. :)
