For The Press - A Project Summary

Apr
16

I know, I know…  I’ve been rather absent lately.  I’m sorry.  To say that things at my day-job have been a nightmare would be an understatement.

I just wanted to assure you all that things are still progressing.  The script is still getting longer.   We’re still wheeling and dealing.

I’m at Patrick’s at the moment to discuss some story points on the script.   He’s chatting with his brother about taxes and housing development…yawn…

ooooo brothers chatting. Are they plotting?

Sorry first thing that went through my head was the Myst game. :D

note from Patrick: the below came through on the site on 04/16 and we have not confirmed the legitimacy of mikethestud17’s claim; I would encourage anyone who wishes to contact him to proceed with extreme caution:

Hey, I have heard that there is a race to make a script based on the popular video game, Myst. I am to announce that I have a complete script and have started the filming procces in the Colorado Dunes. This production includes a full cast and crew. Every since I read the book, Myst The Book of Atrus, I imagined what each and every scene would look like. I also thought that it would be ausome to see it on the 6-story IMAX screen, so I contacted IMAX Corps. and we have been able to get ahold of a couple of IMAX film cameras. We are looking for some more people who want to help out. You can contact me at the above email address. This production I am sure will be backed by Cyan and Rand and Robyn Miller. I am currently attempting to contact them so we can buy the copyrights to the idea of the Myst trilogy.

note from Patrick: on 04/17, Mr. Nelson followed up with another comment on another post simply stating what’s below. Tony at Cyan has never heard of the project in question so I again encourage anyone to proceed with extreme caution:

We have put together a presentation reel. Email me for it.

Real life sucks; real jobs suck. Bleh.

Heh, just like old times, eh Adrian?

I’m really interested to see more of the script, it sounds incredible right now.

I’m really interested in seeing more of the script too Adrian! Any chance you could send more of it my way?

You’re really working hard! Good luck!

lol, that’d be nice.

Give the MOUL guilds a preview of the script before they release it to the public in the next day’s post.

Not gunna happen, but, good thought on (my?) part.

More script would be nice, but I’ll let em work on it before I send begging e-mails.

@Nelson

Herm… uh…. firstly, I doubt IMAX would give full support to a project where no consent exists with the parent company.

Secondly, Cyan Worlds is not likely to “sell” rights to the books, as the Book of Marrim may still be released as well.

I’ve sent a letter to Ryan seeing if they’ve been contacted by someone concerning this kind of project, yet I highly doubt a movement so large would go unnoticed by the public eye…

Yea, Ryan said he hasn’t heard anything about a project like this, but I guess that doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist…

Well, if there -is- a race, remember, no one wants a poor quality film.

Well put.

My backings go to Adrian and Pat ^^

Thanks, Guys :) Well, we know for a fact that there has been no contact with Cyan regarding this IMAX project. Tony has said he will keep us posted, though. As for us, we are not engaged in any kind of “race”. We are working diligently to develop a quality script and a professional project. We are not in competition with anyone.

we are not in competition with anyone … well, except for ourselves.

The whole thing reeks of a prank. The poor spelling and grammar are hardly indicative of someone professional enough to convince IMAX to loan them a couple cameras. And there’s no way they could have started shooting already with a full crew, yet still be soliciting help from volunteers. I am quite confident it’s a hoax.

Hoaxes, upon hoaxes, upon hoaxes… eh, Ryan?

Personally I think it’s an attention garnering move… but I’ll stay silent for now :P

So many people still think this project is a hoax, trust me, I’ve seen threads dedicated to saying so.

So, right now, I’ll reserve my opinion to reserve my opinion :D

IMAX doesn’t just loan out cameras. IMAX would have been part of the actual production, and it would be very unlikely for them to be interested in a project such as this.
