For The Press - A Project Summary

Apr
20

So, I got an e-mail from Adrian late last night with a small attachment. He asked me to prep it, rip it and send it out to share. So, of course, I had to sit on it for at least a couple of hours as to feel that I was the gatekeeper.

Anyway, something to show while we prep a whole mess of fun things for the lot of you.  So everyone knows that we’re still working, and not just falling prey to flame wars, snakes, and other miscellaneous strife.

Yay! ^_^

Very nice job guys, it’s really nice to see another scene from the movie play out. I actually remember this part quite vividly. Remind me, what role does Eneah play again? I’m pretty sure he’s one of the Linguists who first meets Anna, but is he the one who escorts her to the Council Room for her “trial”

Apart from that, bloody brilliant :D

Yes.. leave that stuff to the legal folks. A race is never won by looking over the shoulder, or second guessing.. eyes front always.. press on!

If your the gatekeeper, who’s the keymaster?
It looks great. I can’t wait to see more.
And remember, there is no Diana. There is only Zoul!

I like this one, guys ;)

I like what you did with Eneah. Thumbs up from the opinionated one!

I’m not as thrilled with this one myself. WARNING: LITERARY CRITIC ALERT.

It feels like Too Much Exposition. I know that we kind of need that in a movie like this, and I’m not certain of how else one would get the wonderful misconception about the hair across, but it still feels like… yeah. like I’m being told, not shown. Maybe it’s just me, though.

I mean, if it were I, I might have had the bits about D’ni misconceptions of surface dwellers conveyed by the crowd whispering as they try to get a glimpse (”Is she really all hairy like they say?!”) but that’s my writing, not yours. Still, I think you might want to avoid hitting people in the face with too much exposition. As it’s said, “Too much exposition can really ruin a show!” and you get a cookie if you know where that’s from. ;)

… again. sorry, my personal take. It’s not bad by any means. *waits for the other fans to take meat hooks to her innards for such blasphemy~*

“D’nis have cars?”
Sedan actually refers to a sedan chair. Don’t worry, we haven’t written in cars :)

Ryuu: You don’t need to apologize for your opinion. It’s valid. Exposition is a difficult creature, as I’ve mentioned in other posts on this site. I can tell you that the main focus of Eneah’s monologue was not to inform the audience so much of D’ni’s misconceptions of the surface dwellers as it was to establish Eneah’s character motivations. I was interested in showing his curiosity and tolerance of her. To me it’s a character moment more than an expositional one.
As for your quote: It’s from Urinetown :)

Hmm, I see your point now that I read it again. Maybe it’ll look better on screen, I don’t know.

Yay! *gives Adrian a cookie*

yea! i got a snipit of the movie! really great stuff guys. keep up the good work. But i don’t know right off the bat what “Banal” and “prodigious” means. doesn’t mean anything though, love it all. I actually remember this part a little bit from the book. took me a while, but i know when this happened. i actually was able to picture the scene from what i read in the script. So great work guys, i have the upmost confidence in you!

Picture in the post isn’t working but I looked at the link Adrian provided and saw that picture, and I thought “Yes - that looks EXACTLY like the thing Veovis and Aitrus were carrying Ah-na in in part 3 after her speech”! It just popped into my head immediately.

Ok it’s working on my other computer AWESOME! :)

:D

So, who is Eneah again?

Hooray, another piece of the script! This is awesome, it’s great to see Anna after seeing a scene with Aitrus and Veovis.

With utmost respect, and I really mean that, I do have to agree with the Urinetown quote. I understand that you’re trying to show us Eneah’s character, but the problem was that I could tell. Maaan, everyone’s a critic eh?:-P

I think the exposition is fitting for the character. Just think how the scene would play if Eneah just sat in the cab staring at Anna’s body without saying anything.

Creepy, huh? So, please keep the exposition as is - I like it!

Well, I can certainly see both sides of the argument here…
To me, part of Eneah’s character is that he is verbose - in a most endearing way. I felt like having him talk about his childhood fascination with the surface dwellers was a way to really ground his particular view and the decisions he makes regarding Anna. It was important for him to communicate these things to her. Eneah is one of the only “friendlies” she encounters in her early days in the cavern.
I’m pretty confident that it isn’t going to play as awkward exposition, but I can assure you that if it does, it will be altered accordingly. :)

I… you… it’s… OH MY GOSH!!!

IT’S AN HONEST TO GOODNESS PART OF THE OMG SCRIPT! 8-O

*passes out from hyperventilation*

That’s it, I mean this is only the first draft. You’re brave in opening it up to people like this! Please don’t ever let us discourage you, it’s definitely not our intention.:-)

Oh, and Merrik Stryfe, have you seen the other scene they’ve shown us?

Nek, I’m feeling badly that no one has answered your question. Here’s a link for you. :)

Oo, thanks for the hot link Adrian, I wanted to do that but alas did not know how.
