For The Press - A Project Summary

Apr
30

Well, the press release went out early yesterday morning and while there has been very little feedback, that doesn’t necessarily mean much. We’ve seen some traffic flow into the site, we’ve had a couple of re-posts - but these things take time to propagate. No calls from the New York Times, just yet. (I’m joking, we don’t seriously expect that). Hopefully, our release is still sitting on the desks of some well-received reporters as we piqued their interest and we’ll hear something in the days to come. All part of the game: waiting.

In the mean time, Patrick again has favors to ask of all of you (or at least the few that have some time to spare). Call it our foray into peer-to-peer news dissemination. Here’s what to do:

There are now two formats of the release that are prepared to be linked up and reposted to sites galore.

A link to the official text/web release is here:
http://www.webwire.com/ViewPressRel.asp?aId=64246.

A link to the official rich release is here:
http://mystmovie.com/materials/all-eyes-on-filmmakers-20080428.pdf.

Both formats of the releases are ready to be copy/pasted and/or linked to members of the press who might hold interest, boards still debating the legitimacy of our project, and reference points of Wikis. The release might be of particular interest to the Wikipedia Myst page as a citation, and the MystLore collection.

The goal is of course - to get the news out to additional people who might find the project and the blog of interest. Anything to get more public awareness of all that’s going on.

If you get the chance to help out, you have our thanks. If you don’t — you still have our thanks. You’re all the greatest.

Cool! I’ll post it on boardgamegeek.com

Keep up the good work, guys.

Both wikis have links now.

I’ve printed a copy of the Press Release to show to interested figures. No one in the press yet, however.

Shouldn’t the link to WebWire in the press section say “WebWire” instead of the article’s title (to match “Joystiq” and “mediageeks”)?

Shouldn’t the link to WebWire in the press section say “WebWire” instead of … I was considering that. Because WebWire is a destination point more so than any periodical, I wasn’t sure what to put. I’ll consider this. If I change it, you were right. :) Thanks for the hard work.

Hey, just some advice…you may get more contacts about the project if people had something tangible to see/hear. This blog is great, but not something that’s gonna hit the New York Times. Even the teaser you showed Cyan would be better than nothing.

No problem, we’ll do it ^_^ We’ll get the job done for ya.

Did you send it Daily Variety and/or the Hollywood Reporter? If not, I can probably do that tomorrow.

Ryan, go for it. :)

OK cool. So now, what’s your next step ?

There’s not much on this website….

Is anyone here at digg? This should be digged and stumbled upon. I’m going to submit it to mixx.com

Okay … Digg, Facebook, Technorati, and del.icio.us … done. But, yanno … each of those benefit by *more,* repeated entries. BTW … I used the direct link to WebWire release.

Alright!!! I’ll see what i can do. i am constantly asking people that i see if they have ever heard of Myst. but all i get are a bunch of the first person shooter game players. : (
oh well, i’ll find some people who will be interested. good luck guys!!

but all i get are a bunch of the first person shooter game players I either find that, or guys who buy Dreamcasts on Ebay to obsessively play Seaman…

Thanks for the help, everyone!

I can’t tell you how excited I am about this. I’ve got a number of friends who will be as well. I’ve told my blog readers about it. I wish you guys all the best in your endeavors. I’m starting up a business of my own, and I bet I can only partially relate to what you’re experiencing. Talk about having a few coals in the fire! Myst the Movie! Woohoo!

I will certainly post it on any forums I participate. I wonder if many truckers play the game…

Thank you for doing this.
