For The Press - A Project Summary

May
07

Ah, insomnia…  I’ve got something weighing heavy on my mind… it’s always heavy on my mind.  Sometimes it leads me to unhealthy amounts of sleep.  Other times it deprives me of it altogether.  Anyway, instead of needlessly bitching about it, (”No use crying over spilled milk”, someone once said to me) I’ll talk about other things…

I met with “my kid” (whom I will call “Steven” for confidentiality purposes) yesterday.  I think it went quite well.  The 13-page report - complete with the results of a battery of psychological assessments - led me to expect a very different child than the one I actually encountered.  This is a very good thing.  He far exceeded the portrait the report provided.

I got to..GRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!  It appears that the power supply for my laptop is taking a dive.  I’m currently dealing with a sporadically flashing light that is horribly distracting.  To make matters worse, the battery on this thing no longer holds a charge.  I’m going to have to be brief.  I may not be able to finish this post without the event of a seizure…

I’ll tell you about Steven another time, I guess.  This is going to make script writing difficult.

For now, I wanted to let everyone know that we received an email from the reporter that interviewed us.  Sadly, it would appear that her editor has decided to shelf the article.  Apparently the reporter had trouble compiling enough content outside of our project to support the article.  She did, however, say that she was looking into the possibility of writing a piece about our project specifically.  She didn’t want our interview to go to waste.  We’ll see what she can come up with.

Hope it works out! Gah, I jumped to the movie “Batteries Not Included” when I read the title of that.

Fingers crossed for the article! Looking forward to hear about Steven too. :)

So, it just occurred to me, and maybe a little slower than most, that the biggest misnomer about this film is the actual name of the website and the banner at the top. I mean, Myst - The Motion Picture, and http://www.mystmovie.com don’t exactly engender thoughts of an epic storyline sweeping across the ages and unveiling a hidden culture literally buried in our own past. Instead, what is inadvertently happening is people are associating, and thereby confusing, this website, which is a behind-the-scenes biographical account of the DEVELOPMENT of a movie SET in the realm of D’ni lore, with a movie based on a single chapter of an award winning, and thus fan supported, video game of epic and outstanding proportions. That having been said, what other way do you introduce the production of a movie, based on a script, based on a book written as a prequel to a game that came out years before? *shrugs* Simple, do what Adrian and Patrick are doing, and hope to hell that you can juggle and ride a unicycle while soaked in gasoline while the public is throwing lit matches at you.

When you’re done with that, take these two lads out and by them a pint or two. They deserve it! :)

Well, if it was called “D’ni: The Motion Picture”, not as many people would know what it’s about. The whole thing *is* called the “Myst Franchise” after all.

Well, that’s one thing that interesting.

Wanna hear irony?

Earth and Beyond was dropped by Westwood to make Sims Online, which then became EALand, which is now shutting down. Irony is thick in the skies tonight.

Welp, don’t worry guys, life gets better. Could probably just replace the battery, eh?

Ah, I KNEW she wanted an article specifically about it!

Adrian, crazy thought I know, BUT… you may actually have a friend or two who’d be willing to hang out sometime and well, I don’t know, talk about the things that keep you up a night.

This coming from the girl I called just yesterday and she never called me back :)

In my defense I had finals today ; )

Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuure >_> <_<

Just kidding, but o well.

Note to all Mysteriacs: The Public is here for you :D

Ugh…insomnia. I have it too. No funnnnnn.

STILL, you guys are amazing. Hope things are going well with Steven :)

Insomniacs unite! Ah the joys of late night TV, re-reading all your books for the bajillionth time and surfing youtube and staring at the popcorn ceiling for hours trying to fall asleep.

Also its neat to find out how many keys you can hit when you bang your head against the keyboard.

Yeah, insomnia sucks. *sigh*

Laptop batteries suck too. My old laptop’s kept dying all the time so I spent a fortune replacing them. *hugs desktop PC*

I hope we didn’t scare you when you told us about steven last time. I’m still jealous of the kid getting to know you guys, but i’m sure nobody would actually track him down and bother him to give exclusive details. That would be just plain evil

Not at all. The confidentiality is required by law. My work is part of psychological services and he is entitled to his privacy.
