For The Press - A Project Summary

May
10

Adrian just got off work and came over to wake my ass up - 11 hour work day started very, very early for me this morning. He also brought coffee, and will eat Pizza with me and Carla. Why I just capitalized Pizza, I have no idea — but it seemed that important. But, that’s not the news.

The news is that Tom Sowa, who covers technology and business for the Spokesman Revew out of Spokane, WA apparently had a good chat with Rand this afternoon. On Rand’s mind? The Myst Movie.

As this is the first official word sourced from Cyan in the press, it’s of note. Shove this in the face of any nay-sayers who still wonder if Rand’s foreword is real. (Oh, Snap!)

Avoiding Hollywood, Cyan Worlds allows two fans to develop a Myst movie

Cool. Now give us the animatic!! :)

… and the movie

Animatic comes first, then the movie…but seriously…animatic…we wants it precious!!

Nice article. Thanks for posting that. :)

“On their Web site — http://mystmovie.com — they describe themselves as “Mysteriacs” who have been longtime Myst fans.”
Have you taken the STMU:s? (Standardized Test of the Myst Universe) I can’t find you on the list and I want to know if there has been an administrative error or if you’re purposely calling yourselfs “Myst fans” without being entitled to. If so we shall have to take action against you but I’d rather not disturb Sirrus and Achenar without a good reason. :P
Aaaanyway.. I know the article just said Myst, but it would be a real shame if you left out Rime completely… *runs*

Now watch me “BYAH!”

Well well well… this is a good slap in the ass to all of those donkeys out there who still don’t trust you guys.

Well done to both of you.

BTW, Pizza IS that important o-O

On a side note, sad to hear that Uru had such a profound effect on Cyan’s workforce.

Hopefully, one day, Uru may rise again just as the Myst Movie will perhaps bring the necessary attention to it.

Would be nice to see Relto again… *sigh*

Oh snap is right… and Pizza is important. Take that, nay-sayers!! :P

I realllyyy think Cyan needs to leave Uru alone for a while. Like, really. I know all you guys are quite enamored of it (and I myself found it an endearing little thing) but if Cyan is going to survive they’re going to need to shelve it for now and work on something else. :\

I’d actually like to see something really different from them. Something innovative and unique, along the lines of what Portal and Spore have done (ie, revolutionized spacial thinking in games and changed the way sim games work) Though I guess they don’t have the manpower for that… you can’t just make awesome from your garage any more.

It’s like the film industry. We’re out of the big boom of the beginning and now we’re getting into the big studios and such. hoom.

Have to agree with you here, I guess.

They’ll need a big fanbase and a lot of manpower to do Uru again. They should wait, build up their reputation again and then try in a year, two or three.

Ah, validation! It’s great to see Cyan giving you guys support like this. I mean, of course we knew they were, but it’s great to see it, you know?

WOO HOO! Thats great news LINKING_LADY!

I’m a proofreader by trade, and I hereby officially allow you to capitalize “Pizza.” Who knows? Maybe we’ll be sending YOU pizza parties next!

you can’t just make awesome from your garage any more Ryuu, I rarely disagree with you. Have to, now. Sorry :)

When Tom didn’t reply to my email about this effort way back in the first week of April, I figured he just ignored it. Turns out he was investigating this for a full-up story in the Spokesman.

Congratulations, P & A!

Does the Standardized Test involve knowing the Three Cardinal Rules of Playing a Myst Game?

1. Touch Everything
2. Read Everything
3. Turn the Power On

And, as a note, this *still* isn’t good enough for some people. *rolls her eyes*

I like how Mr. Miller said, “Development hell”….very well said! But why haven’t you guys met him yet? just out of interest.

Natales had posted on UO about a redOrbit article on this effort. It’s essentially a re-post of the Spokesman Review article; but is it worthwhile to add it to the ever growing Press list at the left?
