For The Press - A Project Summary

May
16

First off, I promised to let you know how the interview with the local paper went. It didn’t. I called Patrick and then switched over to make a three-way call to the reporter at the scheduled time, and got his voicemail. We gave it a few minutes and tried again. After getting his voicemail a second time, I decided to leave a message. He never called back. I have no idea what happened.

At about five, I gave up on hearing from him and decided to head down to Starbucks for a cup and some site reading. Not long after I arrived, Patrick called me and told me that Tom Sowa (who wrote the article about us for the Spokesman last week) had just called and was looking to have a chat with us. He put me on hold and got Tom on the phone.

As I packed up and headed to the north side of town for a haircut, Patrick and I had a 15 minute interview about the Myst movie. We didn’t get the interview we planned for, but another one just fell into our laps. It all worked out in the end.

One of the first things Tom said to us on the phone was that when he spoke with Rand it was very apparent that he was highly enthusiastic about what we are doing. “He’s game”. This is always good to hear.

We talked with Tom, spoke about the state of the project at present, how we came to this point and what was next. All and all, it was a pretty good interview, I think. Patrick and I both felt pretty good when we hung up with Tom. We chatted for a few minutes and then hung up with each other.

Just before Tom let us go, he informed us that he would be posting an audio clip from his interview with Rand from last week as well as an audio clip of the interview we were just finishing up.

Have a listen. We’re curious to know what you guys think.

Awesome, thanks for posting the clips! Sound quality’s a little low, but still audible. I wish it was longer, I wanted to hear more LOL!

Sorry to hear your original interview didn’t happen… I can’t believe he stood you up! How unprofessional.

Hollywood Hell.

That’s my quote of the week now ^_^

For me, for some reason, I love listening to your guys voices. Rand, Adrian, Patrick, I love listening to celebrity voices. Anyway, it kinda makes me feel so warm inside considering I’d love to work with you guys. In fact, I’d kill to get two minutes to talk with any of you three.

Welp, either way, I’m here to do my part. If you need me for D’ni Documentation again, just ask.

that was definitely interesting. yet i am under the impression that that wasn’t all that you guys talked about…. did you do another “SCENE MISSING”!?!

either way, that was awesome to hear one of your first interviews. Keep up the good work
P.S. anamatic would be greatly appreciated

@fanatic: Check the last few posts.

They’re working on it, they’re just kinda anxious. They want to release it, yet at the same time they are worried about how it will be received.

Personally I think they have nothing to worry about, but it IS their animatic :S

And so we again officially have confirmation that the forward is genuine. ^_^ But why are the interviews incomplete? I want to hear more from these wonderful voices that are making a movie that gives me warm fuzzies.

Hey get in line, I already called dibs to the Warm Fuzzies of the Myst Movie (/motion picture).

I’ll sue you… I’ll sue you good -_O

I’m imagining a hilarious court case… “Those were MY FUZZIES! He had NO right to take them!”

Rand likes the term “grass-roots,” doesn’t he? That’s okay, we like it too! :-)

That was great guys. I’m proud of you both. This is far cooler than ” Scenarios”. Wink wink nudge nudge know what I mean. The Tribune guy will be sorry. This is a far bigger deal than ” Joshua” was and they covered that. Oh well, piss on ‘em.

Wow, very nice interviews! I noticed that your interview link is labeled “Mysterians.mp3″. :-)

My most satisfying moment today: Telling a fellow fan there’s a Myst movie.
Response: o_o
O_O
>oo< Yeeeesssss!!!!

Warm fuzzies are back. ** ‘-’ **

Telling people about the movie is fun. I got to mention it to The Defuser a couple weekends ago, and his response was “Really? Cool! I’ll have to check that out!”

Myst fans are everywhere

In your interview you mentioned that you thought that Cyan could close its doors, and you would not have anyone to get the movie rights from.
Two questions: 1) Do you think that Cyan is still in trouble. 2) No matter how you answer the first question, why would you say that in a interview? Does not that weaken your position for the movie in the media eyes and with Cyan?

Hi, Mike. I’m not quite sure what you were trying to get at. The fact that Cyan was on the verge of closing its doors was not a secret. It was a fact well reported in the press at the tme. Why do you feel like mentioning it would weaken our stance? Can you clarify for me?

As to the current state of things at Cyan, we aren’t in any position to comment. That is a question for Rand and Tony.

Hi Adrian,
Thanks for the response. I was not aware of the reported state of Cyan, so the comment was a complete surprise to me. Now that I know realize that Cyan’s status has been public info, I don’t think that you weakened your stance at all.

Being a big fan on Myst it is a disapointment to see Cyan struggle after creating such a great intellectual property such as Myst. I hope you guys knock it out of the park with your efforts on the movie. I also enjoy reading your posts on the site here. Keep up the great work.

Hey Adrian, just read the interview on 1up. I have to say that my favorite part would be when you say that if for some reason the movie doesn’t get made you all atleast have had the experience to create something else like a book. That was good. I wanted to let you know that I posted my P.S.A. on my Myspace page if you are able to look at it. Let me know what you think. I’m up for any criticism.
Best Wishes to both of you
P.S. (it’s sarah w. from work, seeing as their are a million sarahs)

Thanks, Mike :)
