For The Press - A Project Summary

May
22

We know that we’re a little behind with getting some more material released for your consumption. As a consolation, Adrian decided to prep another piece of the script for release for everyone to see. Hopefully, this will ease some tensions as we’re getting the evil eye from many (especially friends who haven’t seen the animatic yet).

We’re still moving. Progress continues. Adrian said he was going to finish the script tonight. (He says that a lot, jokingly.) Last version I saw clocked in at about 270 pages - but Word 2007 had messed with the formatting. He assures me that it’s shorter than that.

OH!!! So what was the night before, which meeting? I don’t like Suahrnir, but I don’t think I’m supposed to. XD And I’m the first to post! This is going to be such an awesome movie, the depth of the psychology is wonderful. No random acts of violence, just little pushs like this. Yay!! :D

270 pages?! That would be parts one and two then, yes? Good thinking planning the sequel this early in the game. It shows you’re prepared. LOL

Wow, who knew gemedet could be so dramatic

~Kia

You’re writing a script in Word? Ouch. I hope you’re at least using some script formatting add-on :-)

I hear actors with british accents reading those lines.

It’s great! At first I was quite confused about what stage in the story this is happening, but I figured it out after a while.

Wow, that was really good. It’s been a while since I’ve read it - so it was Suahrnir that plants the seeds of doubt in Veovis’s mind?

Nice writing! :D

I haven’t commented in a while I know, but I just wanted to say… I loved reading that! I’m definitely getting more and more excited for this! :D

*closes evil eye* Whee, masterpiece script work!

Oh, and @ James Tauber, for me it’s not so much that they’re using Word, it’s that they’re using Word 2007. It is the Devil’s tool. *hissss*

Do you have something against Word 2007 ?

Advice: if at ALL possible, get James Newton Howard to score this. PLEASE. He would be PERFECT. Go listen to any Shyamalan film. Perfect, I tell ya.

… Wow. Gedemet: Serious Business.

And Adrian? I have said it before, but I love the way you write Veovis. So very much :\

*wanders off to fangirl*

(Also, as my old blog is still down with no end in sight, look, a new link. To my ancient old whiny Livejournal, which will hopefully be less whiny soon.)

Word 2007 isn’t that bad as long as you do away with the blue background. I miss the equation editor though. :/
*suddenly has a desire to be like subtle wine* O.o

Adam, I must respectfully disagree. Clint Mansell (The Fountain) all the way. ;D

Lemme just back that up with a little sample..

Also you guys, what on earth would be wrong with getting Robyn (if possible) and Jack Wall together for this? Seriously?

Jack does the Cinematic!Score well, and getting Robyn back would be absolutely wonderful, especially considering he co-authored the books…

Yeah… the other Miller brothers seem to have evaporated into the ether!

I am in the middle of the Book of Ti’ana, for the third, at present and IMHO you have got tone and manipulation down to a tee. It is working, I am being drawn into this for the long haul. Positive thoughts.
Take care

Gemedet, to me, would prolly be a mix of Chinese Checkers, Chess and Golf (in aspect of planning). I’m actually getting an idea of how it looks, so I’ll work on another concept art page for you guys on Gemedet (yes I understand you have real artists) cause you might want another person’s opinion on this.

Anywho, I’m loving this. This is after Aitrus convinced the council to let Anna stay with his family, right?

BTW: Been meaning to ask. Is Telanis really dead in this movie adaptation?

May 23 2008

this sounds a lot to me like a time after Aitrus first meets up with A’Gaeris. I mean, Veovis asked, “Do you not think it was planned?” If it was something to do with Anna, then he wouldn’t have planned anything. I don’t know. Cool part though. afer the movie is done, you guys are going to have to make like a game set for Gemedet. that would be awesome.

Keep up the good work guys!

Context is always nice. To end the speculation, this scene actually takes place the night after The Council’s ruling that Anna will be granted a public hearing :)

Well since others are putting in their suggestions for Veovis actors, might I suggest James Marsters :D (Spike in Buffy the Vampire Slayer)
~Kia

might I suggest James Marsters only if he sings…

Myst: The musical!
Oh the possibilities.

Way to go, Patrick! Now you’ve let our big secret out of the bag. Everyone can go home now. You all know the truth now. Think Hamlet 2.

I commend you for such a galiant act of courage to make a movie based on Myst series. Once you have accomplished your goal, millions of Myst fans around the world will thank you for making this happen! I was saddened when Myst URU Live was taken offline, and I thought it would be the end of the Fantastic Myst Universe. I loved all the games, and especially loved Revelations and Uru. They were the most amazing in graphics, concepts and stories. To be true to the Myst series, remember to wow the audience with mind blowing graphics, sizzling action, and an amazing well developed plot that makes people think. This is the essence of the Myst games… great graphics, an intriguing mystery story, and getting the player involved in the story….

I am a artist, so I appreciated the beautiful artwork of Robyn Miller as I spent many hours looking at the graphics of each game, amazed on how they got even better with each game and the realism of the graphics…

Myst Revelation brought me to tears at the beginning, as the tram ride with Yeesha was totally amazing. It was like I was really there! The most amazing sequence ever seen in a game, and I’ve been playing computer games for over 20 years!

So hang in there, and make your dream happen. You want to have the movies made. We fans want to be able to experience Myst on the big screen. We fans are dreaming of a movie, and you are the ones to make it happen. Good job on finding the top talents you can get in Hollywood. ILM effects guys are the BIG plus… the best special effects studio in the industry…

Rand and Robyn Miller would be totally crazy to say no to the lineup you found…

Keep on working, and all of us Myst fans will be cheering you guys in the movie theaters…..

You can always write an age book to an age where Myst The Movie was a reality, and all obstacles were overcome by the ancient art of writing…

To success…. and to the D’Ni Empire… may we all see it come to life on the big screen!

I wasn’t sure where to write this, but here I go.

I was searching for myst movie related news, and came across “www.mystmovie.net,” but it only displays “Error. Page cannot be displayed. Please contact service provider for more details.” in google, and when you click on it it goes to some linking page. I just thought that it was interesting.

Another good scene. Although you kind of have to picture the dialogue being spoken slowly and the enunciation being clear. These aren’t scenes where fast-paced, American-lilted dialouge (think Ocean’s 11) is going to fit the bill. I see this as being almost Shakspearian in delivery.

(As a side-note, I’d like to say that you guys have taken so long in revealing the animatic that the build up may soon outstrip the quality of the thing itself. I advise caution in waiting much longer.)

Deja vu.. I saw Ocean’s 11 about 15 hours ago. (Matt Damon is cuteness! ^^) Have you seen the original? That movie is awesome. It’s a bit more exciting when it isn’t about getting past a bunch of technical security things, more like James Bond tricking the guard in Goldfinger’s basement. :)
(Btw, Ewan McGregor is an awesome singer. And he’s a jedi.)

(Patrick said) only if he sings…
/lol
Oh the boy sings alright, he has his own band. Wonderful singer.
Myst the musical….*snickers* oh the cross-over pain! /lol

~Kia

I believe some comics must be drawn…

Yeah Junee, I saw the original Ocean’s 11. I actually didn’t like it much. The remake has better dialogue. (Yeah, that’s right. I just slapped down Frank Sinatra. Oh well.)

Don’t worry Calam, I’m right there with you. The George Clooney version was better. Unfortunately I didn’t care for Oceans 12 &13, they should have stuck with 11.

They haven’t posted for over a week… I wonder what is happening?…

This silence is giving me ulcers.

:( You’re not dead are you, guys?

You guys told me to take a vacation - a month off or so, I’m just doing what I’m told. ;)

May 31 2008

Wow. I love reading the excerpts you guys post from the script; you’re doing a wonderful job, and I look forward to seeing this someday. Not only do the words on the page ring true for the characters, but I can see the scene so clearly.

Keep up the good work. And good luck!

If you are taking a vacation, you can always send me the script. I could
- read it (absolutely)
- work on it (maybe)
- post it on every website (unlikely)
:D
