For The Press - A Project Summary

Aug
08

I have to be honest, I greatly envy Patrick’s recent burst of creative productivity.  In a matter of days he’s managed to re-imagine his fledgling script, FTP, into a remarkably interesting, dynamic, gut-wrenching odyssey.  It has taken on a much darker tone in this particular incarnation.  That is always a bonus in my book.  I’m quite a fan of dark story telling, especially dark comedy.   As a bizarre blend of  comedy and tragedy, FTP, seems much like life itself,  I suppose (a scary statement, trust me).

Not so much like life are the tripped-out visual concepts.  I can’t wait to shoot this piece.  It’s going to be a challenge and a blast.

One thing is for certain - For Travis Preston no longer “Just plain sucks”.

Good to hear you’re back in business! :)

Woo hoo!

Way to go Patrick =D

Michael Nelson
Aug 08 2008

Hey Patrick, our teams have had a meeting and we think that we should start in the production of the film asap from our side, i will send you another email, we have decided to use the teaser trailer we have as a trailer, then when we have the motion picture completely or mostly finished, then release a full live action trailer.

The stranger
Aug 09 2008

So wait, are there going to be 2 myst movies?

wow,I hope non of them will be low in production which will lower the series reputation.Which is no good.

The stranger
Aug 09 2008

P.S: Mr.Nelson,I have a question about your movie,just interested:

How large is the production team? how large is the budget for development?

I’m very interested in your movie,I hope you can answer.

@The stranger: The other Myst movie doesn’t exist.

Herohtar
Aug 09 2008

By the way, Mr. Nelson, unless you actually have an agreement with Patrick and Adrian, it’s not really a good idea to claim you are working in association with Mysteria Film Group as you do in your “trailer”. Though, it actually says Mysteriac Film Group, so maybe you’re working with someone else… ;)

Man, this Michael Nealson guy won’t give up.

Look at what I found with a little digging: http://nelsonmotionpicturestudios.synthasite.com/

Doubt he’s legit. And his trailer for “his Myst movie” kinda shows that. Not to mention the rest of his site.

AndyBlooShoes
Aug 09 2008

LOL Nek, look who posted right after you.

Ok, so let’s evaluate: You have the trailer for Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince (which you’re obviously not developing) under your trailers section as well as a trailer for Myst: The Motion Picture made of scenes from Exile and Revelation, which claims multiple times that you’re in association not only with Cyan, but Mysteria Fim Group! I find that terrifically hard to believe.

Also, your site seems to have a broken link titled “Order your Myst: The Book of D’ni tickets now!”.

AndyBlooShoes
Aug 09 2008

Yeah so I thought it was the Book of Atrus? XD

Oh dear, not this guy again. *sigh* Ignore him, he’s just trying to stir the pot again.

Patrick and Adrian, I’m glad to hear you’re getting back into the swing of things…some of your posts lately made me worry a bit! Congrats on the new burst of creativity!

That’s right, Mr. Nelson. You just keep making those plans about the trailers and the movie. Just hold real still while we get out the net…

The stranger
Aug 10 2008

Just my humble opinion, hope you respect it:

THIS is his movie? cut out scenes from myst games? honestly,it looks lame.

Maybe I got the wrong impression, but if this cut out scenes from games was what his team could do,I’m not going to wait for THIS movie.

Maybe he doesn’t understand, but if the movie will not be a serious, but a fan-made quality movie (which is my impression),and if he seriously going to release it,myst’s reputation, which we are trying to rais right now,is going down the sink.

Why won’t he just team up with the mysteriacs and help them make a bigger movie, instead of making his own low-quality (as it seems) movie.

For example: it wouldn’t make much sense if someone will seriously make a fan quality harry potter movie, while the big, serious harry potter movie is in production, right? ;)

No, you don’t get it. Nelson is not making a movie. He didn’t even make the last half of that trailer; it’s from a trailer from over a year ago that someone made for fun. Since he is not making a movie, there is no threat, and no reason for Mysteria to work with him.

The stranger
Aug 10 2008

Unless he really works with mysteria (and because of his fan made low quality trailer I assume he doesn’t),I think he is just someone who INSISTS he work with the mysteriacs, even though they never heared of him…

Just a guess.

I, Adrian Vanderbosch, co-creator of mystmovie.com, would just like to clear something up - I thought it was pretty obvious, but I don’t want there to be any confusion whatsoever -
_
WE ARE NOT WORKING WITH MICHAEL NELSON, NELSON MOTION PICTURE STUDIOS, TIM HAYES, ANDREW JONES JOHNSON OR ANY OTHER PERMUTATION THEREOF.
_
He has engaged us in a private dialogue over email, which was better than having all of these terrible posts on the site, but those emails have produced nothing more than a promise to show us his live-action trailer once it was completed, a request for us to send him our script (um, no) and another email explaining why he wasn’t going to make his live-action trailer available to us. Any claims (such as those made in the “trailer” on NMPS’s website) that he is working in collaboration with either us or Cyan Worlds, Inc. are completely fraudulent. We are currently looking into our recourse on this particular matter.

Thank you,
Adrian Vanderbosch
mystmovie.com

… I am intrigued by this project now. I like dark (as you may have surmised); I like dark comedy, and I love trippy experimental thingies. Do want more~

Man, who is this Nelson guy, and how tall of a tree do you figure he fell out of?

Michael Nelson
Aug 12 2008

Not as tall of tree as you have fallen out of, and Adrian, if you are threatening to sue to claims WE DID NOT make, bring it on. But I might remind you that we are hollywood, you are not, i didn’t want to have to put you in your place Adrian, but it looks like we have to. The reason why we are not going to make anything public to you is the exact same reason why you wont give us your script. And the fact that we placed your site address at the end and put your name in it was to give you credit for being the ones who are inspiring us to make this project real. You are making a Myst movie, we are making a myst movie, it only seemed fair to place both of our names in the same trailer, this does not mean that we are making claims that we have joined forces, and I am even more hesitant than you are in joining forces with you. Personally, I think you will slow us down, but since its a big issue that we give you credit for the myst film, sorry, we will only place our name in the trailers, we will only place our name in the theater ads that we now have released to select areas, we will only give ourselves the credit that both of us deserve.

Michael Nelson
Aug 12 2008

oh yeah, one more thing, we have contacted the LA times, and they are going to be more than happy to publish an article about this movie on the newspaper, possibly on the front page, we were going to say that the real people behind the myst movie are the two people from mysteria film group, but we might just change our minds, since you swear up and down that we are defrauding your company.

Michael Nelson
Aug 12 2008

And about the last half of the myst trailer, we did shoot a live action trailer and have edited it and am ready to release it. I released that teaser trailer because i didnt want the live action trailer to be released until the movie was completly shot and edited. But thought it might be a good idea to put together something for a ad telling people that this production is really happening. Which it is. And didnt have the time to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on a measly myst trailer, so i got game footage, and put it together on the myst trailer, then released it. Again, any more useless questions? Because I really dont have the time to deal with this.

Michael Nelson
Aug 12 2008

And about our company joining Mysteria, thats what we have been telling them every since last year. So you need to talk to either Patrick or Adrian about that one.

Michael Nelson
Aug 12 2008

To The Stranger:
The aproximate budget for the film is about $836,321,000.00. We have a staff of about 500 people. The staff percentage is about 50%. Does this answer your question? I didn’t spend a cent on the teaser trailer because it was something that me and 3 other business people thought it would be a good idea to do, so i went home, threw something together, and then posted it, and our site, if you would notice has news about upcoming movies that we dont have anything to do with, so just because a trailer is on our site, doesn’t mean that we made it, take a look at apple for example, they have about 70 different trailers on their website, but are they making 70 different films? I dont think so.

Michael Nelson
Aug 12 2008

To The Stranger:
And to answer your other question, this movie is going to be very serious, personally, I like to make films that are going to get a rated R rating, I like to make dark films, and i think Myst is a very dark story, and Adrian, dont go and say that im just copying you, because im not.

“The aproximate budget for the film is about $836,321,000.00″
_
Ladies and Gentleman, I am in absolute awe. I must apologize. I certainly do have egg on my face. My name is most definitely “Mud”. I had no idea that Mr. Nelson had this kind of clout. You should all take a moment to really absorb the history that is being made here. Up until now, the highest budget a film has received is 258 mil. NMPS has shattered all odds and has come from nowhere to explode that record. I’ll tell you what, this is proof that anything is possible! He’s got a better budget than the Olympic opening ceremony! Congrats, Mr. Nelson!

I’m a little saddened that Adrian’s pro-FTP post was hijacked as so… :(

*sigh*

Not going to comment.

Normally, I do. And I did on his YouTube “video” (hah, if you can call it that) and also his channel.

This man is a fraud, a cad, and overall a crybaby. If even a tenth of what he was saying were true, I wouldn’t even spit in his direction.

Myst fantatic
Aug 12 2008

wow… Mr. Nelson sounds really immature if you ask me. And i personally think that any good Myst movie wouldn’t be an R rating. And to say that that is all that you push for, that is just plain sad! don’t you know that you lose half your viewers by doing that?

Myst fantatic
Aug 12 2008

And patrick, i feel for you buddy! nobody knows when a complete (*beeeep!*) will come in and ruin something good. trust me… i know….

Aug 14 2008

Hokay.. the only thing that makes this hi-jacked post worth anyones two cents is Adrian’s magnificent reply. HA! That was brilliant.

And *hugs* to Patrick because for all other purposes, having his FTP project post hijacked was for all other purposes a total waste. I have had the rare privilege of actually reading that script and it, like it’s creator are awesome. I’m looking forward to hearing more on it. And as always will continue to invest my free moments in following the Myst project as well.

Behind you both *00

KatrAnna
Aug 15 2008

The FTP project sounds really neat, I definitely love dark comedy. I’m terribly sorry about the comment hijacking, this person, who seems to be using the royal “we”, since I highly doubt anyone would work with someone like that, is an idiot. It’s probably a bored teenager who can’t hold a job due to excess amounts of time spent cruising the net, making people mad. I feel sorry for him, he cleary needs a life. *shrug* But when the Myst fanbase draws together, we can crush anyone in our path! Muahahahaha!
