For The Press - A Project Summary

Aug
18

The move went brilliantly.  Ben and Brian (two of the most fantastic guys you could hope for) worked very hard.  For some unknown reason, they seemed to insist on doing a significant amount of the heavy lifting.  I think it may have something to do with my deceptively slight build.  I don’t look like much, but the truth is I’m quite strong.  People always underestimate my manly capabilities :/  Oh well.

Dylan was also a great help.  She did her part, as she always does.  She’s one of those friends that you just know you can rely on.  She’s always there and willing to do what needs to be done (remember the puzzle translations?)

Patrick and Carla showed up later in the night as we were sitting down to watch Charlie Bartlett (’sokay).  They came bearing a gift for me.  They bought me an area rug!  I’m so terribly pleased with this gift.  One of the first things I identified a need for was area rugs to break up the space a bit.  They came through.

I got up late today.  Since rolling out of bed - or couch in this case - I’ve been avoiding the copious amounts of laundry and cleaning I need to do.  I need to get my old apartment cleaned up and ready to hand over the keys, but I just don’t feel up to the task today.

Patrick has set a shooting date (loosely) for FTP.  He’s aiming for the end of next month.  That doesn’t leave us much time for pre-production, but I think we can pull it together.  We have lots of testing to do before then.  I’m looking forward to the shoot.  It will be nice to do something other than writing for a change.

I do have moments where I worry about FTP distracting from my duties on Myst, but then I look at it and I realize that it’s all part of Myst.  It can only help us to have a nice, solid short making the festival circuit as we’re pitching ourselves as directors to the studios.  FTP is a CV builder for us.  We can always use more credits.

The new place will serve as Travis’ apartment in the film.  It couldn’t be more perfect for the project.   I think Patrick’s excited about shooting there.  Incidentally, he’ll be writing off the area rug as part of set decoration for the film.  It all works out in the end.

Alright, I’ve rambled enough for one afternoon.  I should probably try to get some writing done.  More later, as usual.

Glad to hear the move went smoothly! :)

I think the hardest part of a move is the cleanup after everything’s in. That’s just me, though. It’s great to have so many great friends you can rely on.

Absolutely great to hear, dude.

Don’t worry Adrian, lots of people hate the fact that I’m strong for a smaller person. Oh well, let’s all of us unite and rise up against our opposition =P

I must have missed a post. What’s FTP stand for?

FTP = Free The Penguin

Thats the most random thing ever, but its pretty funny.

Wait wait wait … if Patrick’s using the rug as a write off … is it possible you’ve found a redecorating loophole in the tax code? =)

Quick! Come down to Texas and shoot something! I need a new bed, entertainment system, TV, desk, new computer wouldn’t hurt, ceiling fan, curtains, paint …

=P

I so envy your new pad! I still envision what it would be like to be living in those apartments myself. I wish I could be there to see it in person. I’ll see what I can do about making a trip that way this fall. Micam and I have been working on something that we need to send you so be sure to shoot me your new address as soon as you can. :)

We <3 U!

You know who didn’t help you move?
This guy! (Stentoriously yells this while pointing his thumbs at his chest like a douche)

Rand’s genius must have rubbed off on you. Using your own apartment as a set in the movie? Very clever.

Ugh. I posted the wrong link again.
