For The Press - A Project Summary

Sep
29

I have no idea where I’ve been all weekend, but somehow I managed to miss the news that Paul Newman passed away on Friday.  I’ve only just heard.

I’ve always thought very highly of Mr. Newman.  He was a revolutionary actor, having come up along with Brando and others in the New School.  They are responsible for bringing the more natural, emotionally truthful style of acting to the screen.  You will be hard-pressed to find any Newman film in which his performance was anything less than amazing (although, in his later years he felt that some of his early work was rather forced).

Aside from his contributions to the field of acting, Newman was also a passionate humanitarian.  His food brand Newman’s Own donates its profits to charity.  He was a caring, gentle man that did what he could to make this world a better place.  He was someone who embodied my idea of the ideal celebrity.  Someone who uses their resources and position in the public eye to make a positive mark on the world.

I’m sad to hear he’s gone.  He lived a good life and I’m just glad he was here.

If you’ve never seen it, check out “Cool Hand Luke”.  It is one of my favorite films.

I sadly heard of this event on the day it happened, it came as some what of a shock. Hollywood has indeed lost one of it’s brightest stars.

“It is both foolish and wrong to grieve for the dead, we should instead be glad that such men lived.”

Can’t remember who said that, and I don’t know if it even goes that way.

I seriously was shocked to hear about the death of Paul Newman, though I’d never seen many of his movies.

Upon hearing the news, I decided to pick up a few of his movies over the weekend. Even now he is such a great actor, and it’s a shame to see that he passed away =(

Sounds like a really good man.

Per paragraph 2 line 3-4 of blog…
What about “the silver chalice”? Didn’t he take out a page in vanity fair to apologize about his performance in that one ;)? Discuss amongst yourselves?

This year has been really rough on Hollywood…we’ve lost a LOT of the great ones. Though I’m too young to know most of his work, what little I did see I always enjoyed. I was very impressed with his line of organic products too.
