You dun updated! You dun…dun guud.

  • Mister Cloakreply

Oh, and what’s with the exposure O.o I’m glad I had the lights on in the room before watching that because O_O WOW. And welcome to Hel..er, Indiana you two! I hope you get to experience some of that Hoosier Hospitality! And believe it or not, there really IS more than corn in Indiana! There’s also that nudest colony on 65 between Indianapolis and South Bend…

  • Ugh!! White wash…. it comes to haunt me again…. White WASH.

  • I hope you don’t plan to film the movie like that. :P

  • What? No smoking!

    Kidding, just kidding.

  • BEN! The shutter speed – the shutter speed! Or the aperture either one :)

  • Oh and who were those two good looking guys you were picking up at the airport?

  • With a post title like “The Arrivial” I was expecting a video about aliens. Maybe they were just illegal aliens. None of you look like Charlie Sheen and there were no special effects except some misguided attempt at style. If amateurs shot it, critics would just call it overexposed instead of “art”. I’m very disappointed. You should have gotten Sigourney.

  • Oooh it’s that Ben. I wouldn’t know if he hadn’t turned the camera. Aaaah my window was just attacked by the biggest bumblebee I’ve ever seen! Hmm maybe it was a beetle or something. Anyway so what are you guys doing in a very very sunny south bend?
*laughs at the ridiculously small airport* :p

  • It’s too white.

  • Poor Ben. In his defense, it wasn’t really his fault. The sun was quite bright and it’s rather difficult to see exposure issues on an LCD screen (the camera’s monitor). We handed him the camera and set everything to auto for him. The trouble comes with the fact that the camera couldn’t close the iris enough to compensate for the untold power of the Midwestern sun. Had we had a chance to see what he was shooting, we would have flipped on an ND filter or two. Oh well. The result is a stylized, “edgy” piece. Perhaps if we had added some music from a Tony Scott film it would have played a bit better. :)

Awesome! I love air travel! …..Oh, and nice shirt Adrian!

  • Cool. Why are they visiting you?

  • Wow, you have accomplished quite a feat: making SBN airport look busy!

  • Grrr. As awesome as video blogs are, I am annoyed because I cannot view these at work. Must wait till I get home… in 7 hours.

  • I forgot: Smoking on camera is not permitted.

  • The exposure issues are okay. They’re like every outdoorsy scene in BSG – except without color. Frakking Indiana.

  • > Perhaps if we had added some music from a Tony Scott film it would have played a bit better.
    .
Now you’re talking. But only if his brother directs.

  • I am also quite the fan of Ridley.

  • Yeah, the exposure issue is my fault. Thanks to work, I was late getting to the airport and simply threw the camera at Ben without really giving him a correct primer on its use outdoors. My negligence caused the ND filter to not be put on. What you’re seeing is actually the corrected footage — the white reins and the image just simply isn’t there. Thankfully, the rest of the material had more attention.

  • Yay more video!!! The lucky dcks have now read the script AND get to visit South Bend? We will expect full reports!! ;)

  • So the overexposure was not intentional, eh? Gosh. I love to rail against arrogant artistic statements and styles that are so much Emperor’s New Clothes. Now I feel sorry for poor old Ben. You’ve taken all the fun out of it and I feel guilty. But I stand by my statements about the title, Charlie, Sigourney, and Ridley.

  • lol @ b’squared

I was almost expecting Rand Miller. Cool you got to meet them!

  • Kyaaa! The light! It stings almost as bad as the sadistic- satanic cult that haunts department store perfume counters. “Would you like to try (a perfume name)” my a$$ more like would you like to get tasered in the eyes? Oh, the light! ;-)
But congrats on getting there… may the force be with you.
Soooooo, since they got to visit, how about reading the script to us ;-)

  • Do we have to create an audition video and send you many emails to you to see the script?

  • Nathan Heiseyreply

    Argh… More video…
But shorter doesn’t take so long to load, at least…

Out of curiosity, what is the occasion that merits their visit? Are they there to help?

    If so, sweet…

    If not, ?

  • @Adrian: If there are loyal fans out there that still doubt the legitimacy of this project, that is their choice. It’s completely up to them. That is all for now. I’ve got to take a call with Rand and Tony in five…

Priceless, just priceless. I’d actually love to open a dialogue with someone who questions our methods — you know, actually have a chat; maybe bring it over to sidetaker. Too bad no one’s up for it, as everyone always posts their complaints anonymously. Feh. Fah. Whatever. I guess some people were just born to complain.

  • myst fanaticreply

Well… it’s cool that you guys can post videos on the site…. But my computer is too jenky to hear or see anything! For me, it sounded like you guys were talking through a fan blade- all choppy and mashed up.
    -
So… were these guys like people from a production company? Were they representatives from Cyan or something? Is that too much to ask for? throw me a bone here folks…. ;)
    -
I’m sure these two guys got to read the script though…. it seems as though any myst fan that is able to track you guys down and meet you merits being able to read the script…. Too bad I have like no money and i live on like the other side of the country…. :( *tear* ;)

  • @myst fanatic: I would say that theses guys are Isaac and Nate.

    @Patrick: Who questioned your method?

  • *in a seductive voice* You’re such a dirty, dirty lens.

  • I Danny j kassab, had just finished the MYST READER

  • I can’t believe, I read all the way from page 1 to page 926.People keep asking me was it worth it? And I say to them “930 PAGES WORTH!”

  • Very, very, very NICE !!! i’m glad to see a meeting beetween Delve Movie and Mysteriacs ! i enjoy the vision and spirit of Cinema by Delve express on their site

this cooperation is (for me) a announcement of good things to come. all this things takes a very exciting twist!

Just something to amuse you with while we’re waiting for the “The Departing”. The “hobbies” video is equally awesome.

Btw, Speaker for the Dead was better than Xenocide. The story in Xenocide didn’t have the same sense of closure, it just stopped leaving everyone’s fate hanging in midair. And things would make so much less sense if you hadn’t read SftD before it. Luckily I have the next book right here so I’ll know how the story unfolds. ^^

  • @ Junee : You’re right about the lack of closure on Xenocide (although I thought the parts about the Chinese planet of Path and OCD were interesting). I listened to Xenocide on an audiobook, and the author mentions the reason the book feels incomplete; it was actually one book that was split into 2 by the publisher (Xenocide, Children of the Mind). Ah, publishers……

  • Well that explains things. Maybe I’ll change my mind when I’ve read this one then. :p

  • What is this video about? I don’t understand.
