First, dear readers, the essentials: my name is Isaac Testerman, and I joined the Mysteriac’s about 4 months ago. I came on board primarily as a producer, helping to take Myst into Hollywood and selling it to some large personalities. If you remember a while back, Nate and I came up with an idea for a booklet that talked about Myst, and our vision to see it brought to life in film. Once I was involved with the Mysteriacs, we all put our heads together and created a specialized presentation to put on the desks of those who make things happen. For the last few months I’ve been talking with production companies, producers, and studios, creating interest and excitement for BoT.
The response to our presentation has been amazing, and we’ve been able to talk and present our vision to some of the biggest names in Hollywood. We’ve learned A LOT in the last few months about what it takes to sell something to Hollywood; most especially that they love cuts. The script is still too long, and needs some restructuring before it will be green lighted. We’ve known this for quite some time, but had hoped more cuts could be made further down the road (once we have a team of writers and producers to help with the process). However, we’re realizing that in order to keep creative control we need to be the ones doing the restructuring of the script…which brings us to the present.
Our team has been talking about cutting the script for a long time now, and we’ve made leaps and bounds in that department. But what’s this–restructuring? During our many, many talks with Hollywood producers and executives it’s become clear that some core changes are necessary. While the core of the story and characters have been met with great acclaim, budget requirements require reaching out to a much wider audience than hardcore Myst fans. To reach the general audience (GA), we must do some restructuring by adding more action and suspense.
Know this: We are NOT compromising the story, or adding things that are not firmly grounded in the books and games. This is (and will remain) Myst through and through! As a matter of fact, we are making it more Mystish (is that a word?) as we go along. As a huge fan of Myst myself, I can assure you will not be disappointed!

“more action”? now i’m worried
action is always nice… but can you tell us what sort of “action”? I sure hope it’s not big booms whenever it’s not needed
so yeah, can you give us an example?
